8 Retailers That Offer Free Prescription Drug Delivery

Even in states with stay-at-home orders, picking up prescriptions from a pharmacy is allowed as an essential task. However, you might prefer not to leave your home.

Fortunately, a number of retailers with pharmacy services offer free prescription delivery. Whether you’re concerned about the spread of COVID-19 or simply want to eliminate an errand from your day, the following retailers’ pharmacies can deliver your prescriptions to your doorstep at no cost.

In some cases, delivery is free only during the pandemic, but in most cases, a free shipping option is always available.

1. Amazon

You really can get just about anything from Amazon. The online retailer has a PillPack service that sorts and groups your medications into packets based on when you take them during the day, and it delivers them to you.

The service is free — customers pay only for the price of their medications.

2. Costco

Costco members can get their prescriptions delivered from the warehouse club’s home delivery pharmacy service.

Medications and refills can be ordered on the company’s website. Standard shipping is free. However, standard shipping takes six to 14 days for delivery.

3. CVS

CVS is offering free one- to two-day delivery for eligible prescription orders until May 31. Medicines are delivered by the courier service Shipt.

Visit the CVS website to learn how to get started with this service.

4. H-E-B

Texas residents can get free prescription delivery from their local H-E-B store. Rather than using the mail, participating stores will have medications delivered during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

There is no charge for the service, although some insurers may restrict home delivery. Someone age 18 or older must be home to accept the medication delivery.

5. Rite Aid

In response to the pandemic, Rite Aid has made home delivery service available from its pharmacies. Fees will be waived for eligible prescriptions.

Customers can contact their local pharmacy for details and to request delivery.

6. Target

Target partners with CVS for its in-store pharmacies, so Target customers can receive the same free delivery service that CVS is offering until May 31.

7. Walgreens

Walgreens drug stores offer several options for home delivery.

Free Walgreens Express delivery brings prescriptions from your local pharmacy to your door in one to two days.

Prescriptions can also be ordered online and shipped. Free standard shipping takes five to 10 business days.

8. Walmart

Though the Walmart Home Delivery Pharmacy, customers can receive free standard shipping for most prescriptions.

Free standard shipping takes five to seven days for delivery.
