Living in the Southwest, especially in Phoenix, Arizona I am somewhat familiar with the Prickly Pear Cactus. It is actually a beautiful plant when it blooms with vivid pink and purple flowers The cactus fruit is quite sweet and can be eaten right off the plant though I don’t suggest it. In the Southwest, it is quite common to be made into jam, jellies, candy, and syrups and sold in gift shops. In recent years, chefs have elevated the fruit of the plant and created gourmet dishes and cocktails.
What Are The Benefits of Prickly Pear For the Skin?
Prickly Pear Seed Oil also known as Barbary Fig Seed Oil or Cactus Oil, has the highest content of Vitamin E and Vitamin K in a fruit. It is said to contain 150% of the vitamin E contained in argan oil and is more sustainable. It provides durable skin firmness, elasticity & vibrance. This large amount of Vitamin C helps with uneven skin tone, age spots and illuminates the complexion while brightening dark circles. It’s also rich in amino acids, which stimulate collagen production to promote faster cell turnover and improve signs of premature aging like fine lines. Prickly Pear Seed Oil is especially good for mature skin. Yay!!!
How to Use
Soul Sister Morocco Prickly Pear Seed Oil $ 53 comes in a glass jar with a dropper. I use 2-3 drops for my entire face and neck at night. It’s non-greasy so you could use it day and night. I LOVE how lightweight it is and how well it absorbs. It’s truly lighter than most of the facial oils in my cupboard. It’s even light enough to apply under my eyes.
One thing that’s not butterflies and rainbows is the scent. To me, it smells like something has burned. Maybe like seeds burning? I can’t smell it unless I really stick my nose in the bottle and it definitely doesn’t linger but I thought I would mention it for those with sensitive noses. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a big issue considering all the benefits the oil has to offer.
Bottom Line: I’ve been using this Soul Sisters Morocco Prickly Pear Seed Oil for about 3 weeks and my skin is way more hydrated than when I started. I haven’t noticed any fading of my brown spots yet but my skin IS brighter. Those stubborn age spots will take a few months. I’m really enjoying this facial oil. If you are in need of a boost of hydration for your dry skin, this may your answer! Highly Recommended!
