Following in M1’s footsteps, Singapore telco TPG is also releasing a Seniors Go Digital mobile plan in partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).
Last month, M1 launched two new plans called the Seniors Go Digital and Mobile Access for Seniors to support the seniors and encourage them to take up digital services.
Both TPG and M1 are telcos selected to participate in IMDA’s SG Digital effort to promote and assist low-income seniors in digital adoption.
According to Richard Tan, CEO of TPG Singapore, “many seniors do not have access to affordable and worry-free mobile plans. This makes it more challenging for them to adapt to the new normal which requires constant connectivity.”
Both M1 and TPG’s senior-specific mobile plans are eligible for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 60 and above.
TPG’s Seniors Go Digital SIM-only plan is available starting from today at a promotional price of S$ 5 per month until 31 July 2021.
After this promotional period, the price will be raised to S$ 10 per month.
What Does The Plan Include?
The plan allows seniors to use unlimited data, with the first 20GB at 4G speed and throttled at 512Kbps thereafter.
M1’s “Seniors Go Digital” plan offers 30GB of data at S$ 18.75 per month for a SIM-only plan. A contracted plan with a device is also available for S$ 30 for 12GB of data.
All plans come with a complimentary three-month Viu Premium and TVBAnywhere+ subscription.
Low-income seniors who qualify for IMDA’s Mobile Access For Seniors are eligible for a one-year mobile plan at S$ 5 per month and a smartphone priced as low as S$ 20.
The plan offers 6GB of data under M1 and 20 GB under TPG. Singtel and Starhub are also offering subsidised plans under IMDA.
