COVID-19: Here Are The List Of 10 “Essential Services” That Will Remain Open

Minister Chan Chun Sing announced today (April 3) the list of essential services that will be kept going:

  • All healthcare and social services
  • Food and related services
  • Energy
  • Water and waste management and environment
  • Transportation and logistics
  • Information and communications
  • Security operations
  • Facilities management and critical public infrastructure
  • Manufacturing activities key to sustenance and security
  • Banking and finance

He emphasised that businesses critical to global supply chains will continue. These include biopharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and their associated supply chains.

Sectors like construction, which require some time to wind down safely, will be given a short grace period to do so over the next few days, added Mr Chan.

While all supermarkets, hawker centres and eateries will remain open, there will be no more dining in. Takeaways and food delivery services will continue.

“Our supply lines and supply chains are intact at this moment and will continue to function smoothly. There’s no need to rush to the supermarkets to stock up as this will only cause disruption to our logistics systems,” he said.

Meanwhile, the business community can call 6898-1800 if they have any queries.
