Singapore residents will be able to collect improved, reusable face masks from next Tuesday (May 26), as part of the country’s third mask distribution exercise.
The free masks can be collected from 24/7 vending machines located at all community clubs until Jun 14.
Masks will also be available from all 109 Community Clubs and 661 Residents’ Committee counters island-wide from May 26 to June 1, 10am to 6pm daily.
Either way, residents would just need to bring along government-issued identification documents (with barcode) to scan and collect them.
Here are the collection details:
The reusable masks come in two sizes – adult and kid, with the latter suitable for children aged 12 and below.
Similar to previous exercises, the government encourages only one person to collect the reusable masks on behalf of everyone from the same household.
Residents can visit www.maskgowhere.gov.sg from May 23 for the latest information, such as the nearest collection points.
The new masks will have at least three layers of material and boast a bacterial filtration efficiency of at least 95 per cent even after 30 washes.
New materials have also been used for these masks to improve their resistance to droplets and comfort for the users.
The improved masks were researched, developed and produced by partners including Ramatex, A*STAR, Ghim Li and Nanyang Technological University, said Minister of Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing in his Facebook post.
In the previous distribution exercise, some Singaporeans took to social media to complain about the material and smell of the free masks.
