F&B has been one of the hardest-hit industries during Covid-19.
Restaurants have reported losing up to 80 per cent of their revenue at the height of the circuit breaker, and storefronts are gradually emptying out.
Today (28 Sep), food delivery service Deliveroo announced the launch of the a S$ 500,000 booster fund designed to help restaurants, customers and non-profit partners navigate Covid-19.
Launching A Suite Of Measures
Free Deliveries
Deliveroo will be investing S$ 350,000 into restaurants that use their own delivery fleets.
That means customers can enjoy free deliveries from restaurants normally out of their delivery radius from now until 11 October.
Typically, customers pay between S$ 5 to S$ 10 for such deliveries, with a minimum order value of S$ 50. The free deliveries will apply to orders from over 200 restaurants, such as Crystal Jade, The Daily Cut and Three Buns.
New Grocery Delivery Service
Deliveroo will also be investing over S$ 30,000 towards launching its first-ever grocery delivery service, with Marks & Spencer on 12 October.
The first 3,000 customers to go grocery shopping on the platform can enjoy S$ 5 off S$ 40 on their first two orders using a unique promo code.
Free Promo Codes
In addition, participating restaurants on Deliveroo will also be offering S$ 3 off S$ 30 spend vouchers — starting today (28 Sep).
Promo codes will be released weekly at selected restaurants like A-One Claypot House, Soup Restaurant and Eighteen Chefs.
Furthermore, Deliveroo will also be sponsoring up to 5,000 voucher redemptions worth S$ 15,000 for the first week of the campaign. Selected restaurant partners will offer up to S$ 75,000 worth of vouchers until 25 October.
For Charity
Additionally, they are also partnering with charity organisation Food from the Heart (FFTH) to encourage customers to take a photo of their clean plates or takeaway and upload it onto social media.
For every post submitted, Deliveroo will donate S$ 1 to FFTH, capped at S$ 10,000.
Donations will go towards FFTH’s School Goodie Bag programme, which offers underprivileged students and their families with better food rations and nutrition.
Joining Grab And Foodpanda In Extending Covid-19 Support
Competitors Foodpanda and Grab have also launched initiatives to aid their F&B partners in recent months.
Last week, Grab announced the launch of Merchant Academy and GrabFood Bank to support its F&B partners in going digital.
The initiatives support the Small Business Booster Programme and GrabFood Capability Development Pack, announced earlier this year.
The government also released a Food Delivery Booster Package in conjunction with the “Big Three”: Deliveroo, Foodpanda and GrabFood to reduce the costs of selling on the three platforms.
As the pandemic wears on, it is becoming increasingly clear that Singaporean F&B businesses will need consistent intervention to survive the travails of Covid-19.
These measures may have to be sustained in order for local food culture to survive.
